Cotton Relief Remedies and Cotton Management Focus

Since the beginning of July, heavy rains have been widespread throughout the province, and most cotton fields have been affected to varying degrees. Among them, the Lubei cotton area (Dongying City, Binzhou City and Weifang City) has suffered the most. Due to the large amount of rainfall, combined with the flood discharge in the upper reaches of the Yellow River and the arrival of passenger water, the elevation of the ground water level and the drainage of cotton fields are difficult. Some of the cotton fields have been flooded for nearly 20 days. In response to the current situation of cotton disaster relief, the following specific management opinions are proposed.

First, upright cotton plant, complete cotton topping

Affected by heavy rain and strong winds, some cotton fields fall down. After clearing the water, the cotton plants should be straightened as soon as possible in order to facilitate the normal photosynthetic production of cotton and the field management in the later period and reduce the number of bad bells. In August, the cotton roots were relatively fragile, and the force was less when it was standing, minimizing damage to the root system. For the undamaged cotton fields, the topping is completed as soon as possible, and after the cotton grows again, the pruning is strengthened to remove new leaf and axillary buds, promote ventilation and light transmission, reduce nutrient ineffective consumption, and ensure adequate growth of nutrients in the late cotton buds.

Second, chase flower bell fertilizer, spray foliar fertilizer

In the flooded cotton fields, the root activity of cotton decreased, and some nutrients in the soil were also seriously damaged due to leaching and erosion, which could easily cause premature aging. After the water is drained and the soil is loose, cover fertilizer should be applied in time, and 5 kg of urea should be taken up per mu. The top dressing should be covered too late and excessive. After August 10, no further fertilization can be applied. The roots can be fertilized externally. A mixture of 2~3% urea and 0.2%~0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate is sprayed on the root and sprayed once every 7 days. Spray 3 times.

For the rejuvenated and prosperous cotton fields, chemical control should be carried out as soon as possible. Spraying 3 to 5 grams per mu and spraying about 30 kilograms of water. Foliar fertilizer, dildoamine (or mesperine) can be combined with pesticides that prevent and treat pests.

Third, pay attention to prevention and control of blindness, to ensure that the upper buds are not affected

After the cotton has been damaged, the new leaves and small buds that are newly emerged are very likely to attract blind and obscure elephants. Therefore, special attention must be paid to the prevention and control of the blind stink bug. The prevention and control of blindness can use 10% imidacloprid wettable powder 10-15 grams per acre watered spray, and can also be used in cotton aphid horse, tobacco whitefly and so on. At the same time, attention should be paid to the prevention and control of 4th generation bollworms, which are currently in the incubation period for egg production. All localities should strengthen forecasting and prediction. When 100 young larvae reach 8 to 10, 0.2% methylcarbamovidin benzoate is used per acre. 40-60 grams or 4.5% beta-cypermethrin EC 30-45 grams per acre spray control.

Fourth, timely removal of cotton rotten bells, to minimize cotton loss

The flooded cotton fields have high humidity and can easily be depleted. Now, some cotton fields have begun to appear as rotten bells. If any of them develops in the cotton field, they will eventually form a dead flower or directly rot without yield.
